A Morning at the Flower Market & Flora Grubb

April 24, 2026 | Romila Jogdand

There’s something about being surrounded by flowers first thing in the morning. Buckets of stems, unexpected color combinations, and that quiet hum of people moving through it all.

We left in the morning with the dogs already settled in the car, heading to the San Francisco Flower Market, something I’d been wanting to do for a long time. Thankfully, it’s dog-friendly, which made it easy from the start.

It was cold in the morning, but it turned warm pretty quickly. We got there close to closing, but it was still packed with flowers—Roses, hydrangea, peonies, protea, lilies, just everywhere. Total candy store moment, I didn’t know where to look first. I picked up some red and pink roses and a flowering cherry branch with blooms still on it.

From there, we made a quick stop at Flora Grubb, always a favorite, before heading to SPARK Social for lunch, momos, and noodles in the sun.

The dogs were surprisingly good after a stop at a small park. Amalfi, our golden retriever, wasn’t entirely convinced by the flower market, maybe the scale of it, the scent, or the moments I kept wandering off.

A quick stop among the flowers, always hard to leave.

Buckets of spring stems in every color and texture.
